- Thirty Seconds To Mars (30STM) Deluxe Edition This Is War album was released on November 2, 2010, which bears the same title of the 2009 album. So why should this newly released version of the '09 albums be considered a deluxe edition? Because of all the flawless extras that are included in the CD, including the remake of "Hurricane", a collaboration featuring controversial music artist Kanye West. Kanye's auto-tuned vocals was sort of a unique addition to the song, however, disrupted the flow of the song overall. Thankfully, the band does carry very well through-out musically and rhythmically — so the intermittent Kanye-infusion did not distract from the song very much.
The CD also features the cover of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance". 30STM's remake has an acoustic/lounge quality that goes along with the alluringly sensual, hot and smokey vocals performed by the band's lyricist and vocalist Jared Leto. Quite possibly, the best cover of "Bad Romance" I ever heard.
"Stronger", which is a cover for Kanye West's song of the same title, is an exciting, eclectic and a much slower paced version than Kanye's cover of Daft Punk's "Harder, Better Faster." The DVD features fan commentary on what 30STM and what music overall means to them. The Ride is a 'making of' short film for the song "Kings and Queens." The inclusion DVD is an incredible watch. The DVD gives their fans a behind the scenes look at how 30STM evolve with their own creative ideas on music and how their unique, artistic, and visionary elements causes this creative process to spill over incorporating their fans to create a collaborative of individualism.
The successful interval of music, people, and the night bike ride on into the early morning's light is 30STM evolutionary approach to integrate their Echelon members into the creative process. The Echelon is the band description for their community of fans.
The song and videos "Closer to the Edge," and "Kings and queens" are audio and visual band dedications to their fans. The video "Kings and Queens" won this year's MTV's 2010 Video of the Year award under the directorial eye of Leto (alias Bartholomew Cubbins). It also shows how crucial the fans are in the creative process. The fans can be heard throughout the 30STM song, "This is War," which made its debut in the highly successful Bioware game Dragon Age: Origins as the title song before the release of the 2009 album. According to the 30STM website, Leto states "We've come a long way from having to rely solely on the radio to approach and engage music fans, and Dragon Age: Origins is the perfect game to do this with."
"Since the December 9th, 2009 release of "This Is War", Thirty Seconds To Mars have been experiencing several career highs. They recently celebrated their third #1 single at alternative radio with “This Is War.” “Kings & Queens” hit #1 in January and the platinum-selling A Beautiful Lie’s “From Yesterday” reached #1 in 2007. A Beautiful Lie’s “The Kill” was voted the #1 alternative song of the decade by AOL Radio listeners. In addition to their MTV 2010 VMA nominations, Thirty Seconds to Mars was the most nominated band at the 2010 Kerrang Awards with 4 nominations, winning the award for Best International Band. They have won 3 previous Kerrang Awards, an MTV Video Music Award, three MTV EMA’s, an MTV Latin and Asia Award and a Fuse Award." EMI Publicity.
It is enlightening to hear and see the crowd reactions to the concert, within in the different tracks of the CD and how the band understands and values the contribution from their fans to complete the music experience in the Thirty Seconds to Mars This Is War Deluxe Edition CD. Jared, Shannon, and Tomo of the band know that the Echelon are critical to their band's success and welcomes all into the 30STM family from around the world. Do not miss out on power and influence of this highly recommended CD/DVD deluxe set. According to the Thirty Seconds To Mars website, the new international release date of THIS IS WAR Deluxe Edition is November 29th.
